I carry the Carry when the social situation and climate permits (dictating my mode of dress) and have found it to ride comfortably and well concealed in an iwb holster. I prefer "traditional" da semi-autos for self-defense duties.

The one thing I'm not so sure about is how he thinks it is nearly as easy to load as 45. It is a necked case, which complicates things a lot. Case stretching is more of an issue, lubing the case is needed.
If you use a .40 carbide sizer, its one extra step and no lube is necessary.

I never seemed to get any case stretching, and never had to trim them like you do with rifle cases. Not saying you wont at some point. But since theres a lot of once fired brass available now, Id probably just chuck it at that point and get more.

Although the P220 is a great gun (see Stephen Camp's recent write-up of it) it will probably not be ideal for carry, as it is big and heavy. (even the Carry model) Think about what it will be like to lug all that bulk and weight around all the time. I think it will get old.
The P220 isnt really "big and heavy". Its about the size of a Colt Commander, and lighter than the Combat Commanders (I carried Colt Combat Commanders for about 25 years befroe switching to the P220). I carried the P220 for awhile before switching to a P226, which is basically the same size as the P220, and its carries no differently as well.

I also had a P220 Carry, which is basically just a P220 with a P245 slide on it (I had a P245 too ). They are OK, but SIG has some silly ideas when it comes to sizes, and there is really little difference between the P220 and a P220 Carry.

Almost exactly the same as the size difference between a commander 1911 and a CCO 1911... I guess its not just Sig who has silly ideas about size.

The EQ is a great gun I have the full size EQ P220 thats easy to carry.
I have the P220ss carry Elite and that is also easy to carry.
I don't understand why poeple think these guns are hard to carry I have carried a full size 1911 for years.
I just don't know what the problem is.

Enjoy it's a great gun.

Good point. I guess they all seem to have a bit of the disease. Just look at the Glock 19. I mean really, whats the point?

SIG seems to have more of it though. The P225, P226 and P228/229 are really basically the same size, but they arent. The P239 really isnt all that much smaller than the P229.

The only thing in SIG's lineup that is really different in size, are the P230/232, the P238, and maybe the smaller version of the P250. Not sure about the P290, havent seen one yet.

The .357SIG is so much easier to shoot than the .45ACP. I own both and prefer the .357SIG, which with just a barrel change wll also shoot the .40S&W.

I'd say some of the folks that think the P220 is too big and heavy to carry don't know what a good belt and holster can do for you.

The gun industry has done a very good job convincing people they need to get a small, light pocket sized gun in order to carry a gun. Look at all the mini 380 auto and 9mms.

People have been carrying P228s, Glock 19s, Commander 1911, P220 etc.... for years without issue.

I agree 100% anyone carrying anything needs to invest in a good belt and a good holster. They make a world of difference.

I like Sigs. I had a 229 and a two tone 226 both in .357sig. I had trouble locating ammunition, locally. Consequently I didn't shoot either very much - and sold them.

I missed the accuracy and nice triggers on the Sigs. So I picked up a 1997 Sig 220. Points naturally, looks great, carries well, whats not to like?

I'll shoot mine this weekend. Plenty of .45 available these days.

Get a Sig, you will be glad you did! Regards 18DAI.

The biggest thing with the Sig for me is that the decocker is where you would expect the slide release to be. Slide release and decocker should be backwards I would think.

You do get used to it but that and the size takes time to get used to. I have the P239.

I agree with the poster above that for the size, Sig's don't give you a lot of capacity.

.357sig bullets fired out of an 11" pistol barrel...

To the posts about .357sig bullets fired from a 11" barrel, I have to say; "Hmmmm...".

Other than maybe NBA super-star & sometimes sworn LE officer Shaq O'Neil(who has an online masters in criminal justice & a BA from LA State University) I honestly don't thnk many US handgun shooters would pack a 11" barrel on their .357sig duty or carry gun.

In regular 4/5" barrel duty weapons, the .357sig ballistics should be safe but powerful for critical events.

A .40 caliber sig can shoot 3 calibers, 40, 357 with the 357 barrel and same mags, and you can get a conversion barrel like a storm lake and some 9mm mags and have a third caliber. Then theres a .22 conversion slide.

Will the 40/357 mags not work with the 9mm round in a conversion?

No idea, youd have to ask around. I just know the storm lake and EFK barrels are known to be great. EFK said "best results use 9mm magazine."

Bar sto makes one but i heard it needs fitting. SIG or CZ are on my short list, a springer 1911 is the other im looking at. Now, just to get money.....

Yes they will - at least in a P229 because I have done it in mine without any failures/problems. However, there are those that would argue against using a 9mm conversion barrel and .40/.357 mags in a CCW situation because of the potential for failures.

Seems like it would be awesome for competitors, you could compete in different classes with same gun.

I didn't think the P220 came in platinum, I would have had by now!
Am I wrong?

Well shut my mouth it must be way to early, I found it.

My wife always tells me to shut up if i don't know what I'm talking about.

I have the EQ and it is a great weapon the slide to frame fit is very smooth.
So I think my next sig will be the P220 platinum that didn't exist a minute ago.

I was a die hard 9mm fan until the 357 Sig came out, I find it to be the best compromise between capacity, accuracy and performance than the other 3 major auto rounds. Im also a huge Sig fan, at one point my collection was in the 20's. The best balance in the Sig line up is the 229 in 357 Sig.

I was going to get a P226 in 357 but ultimately ended up in 9mm due to cost of ammo. I have no regrets, love this gun. My next gun will be a sig 220 or 1911.

I would see if you can get to a range that would let you shoot a few different models in that caliber. I like Sigs, I have one and am looking into getting a second, but their barrels do run a bit higher than average above your hand. This can make a good difference when it comes to the snappier loads. That being said I am doing my best to find a Sig in .357 to keep in my car.

Have you looked at the terminal performance of the .357 sig round?
Did you know the .357 Sig fired out of a 11 inch barrel or greater will consistantly penetrate a level 2 vest? If the purchaser is not carefull with ammo selection, inocent bystanders my get it too.
What kind of logic is that? You're talking rifle characteristics. This thread is about Sig handguns.

I have two handguns in .357 Sig, a Sig P229 and a Glock 33. Whenever anyone mentions overpenetration I ask them- have you ever actually HEARD of a case of overpenetration? I usually hear crickets in response.
