H & R Model 900 .22 Cal

I was gifted with this pistol and was told it had been recently shot. So I took it to a range and shot. It misfired about every third round. I inspected the gun as well as I could and it seems that the cylinder is a little sloppy. In reviewing some posts here I see that the gun is fairly low value. It looks to me (novice with some parts/machine background) that the gear that turns the cylinder is worn? Would that cause this issue? After some initial investigation I found that I should inspect FIRST. Fortunately no harm resulted.
