Seating XTPs

When seating XTPs on a Rockchucker press do you guys have better luck with the flat seating plug or the concave. Am loading 357 Sigs not that I think it would matter much if it were 357 Sigs or 357 or 40s. But just talking to someone who asked which should make more accurate lengths and not close the hollow points at all. Using RCBS Dies.

I can see where the flat seater could effect runout. But, we are also dealing with Pistol rounds.
I have always used concave seater.

I use the concave cupped seating punch with XTP pistol bullets for 9MM, 357 Mag, 44 mag, 45 ACP, and 40 SW. Works fine for me. I think the flat seater punch wouldn't do well on the irregular shapes of the hollowpoint bullets. I've read that you can order special punches for XTP bullets at RCBS and I don't know if others offer this service or not. I've polished the edges of some seating punches to prevent the edge from marking the bullets. I used very fine sandpaper and a bullet I'm using behind the paper to help make the punch match the contour of the bullet nose.

I have noticed some of my 9mm XTP hollow points closing up some with the concave plug. I am thinking of getting a flat plug or modifying one to see how it works.

I don't know if it affects accuracy but if it was a self-defence round I suspect it wouldn't be as effective with a smaller diameter at the point.

I use the flat seating plug for XTP hp/fp. If I feel too much resistance in the seating and crimp stage I will do it separately.
