Any thoughts on this new tactical o/u shotgun? I like it and am thinking about getting it for my dad to replace his stoager coachgun. Reason being this one has sights and he could put a light on it.

I like the gun and would like to think it is a better version of the Stoeger Double Defense. Still an import and not inexpensive and for my $$$ I decided to save up for the plain jane version of the Mossberg 930 defense gun. God Bless

Im actually in NY right now, almost as bad. DAd likes to have simple guns, he is very old school, but his eyes are bad and he really will need some sights and/or a light if he ever needs to respond to a night intrusion. which is why I like this. Simple, Old school and has a light mount.

Sorry, I misread your location. I did check them out on Davidsons Gallery of Guns but have never seen one or held one. I have held the Double Defense and I liked the way it felt. It would feel and function much like your dad's "old" shotgun. That would be a plus. I would rather have an O/U instead of a SxS.

The only real benefit to such a shotgun is a shorter overall length than a pump/auto.

It has two large drawbacks.

1. It has extractors rather than ejectors, which is a problem if you need to reload quickly in a stressful situation.

2. It's expensive. That $439 opening bid can buy a pump shotgun and a lot of ammo or black foldy bits.

THe lack of an ejector does irk me. Why dont you see more ejectors on guns like this? are they really that hard to put in?

one of these days I'm going to add a short black Remington 18" pump to the collection. They do quite well on orange clay burglars!!
