Lee Deluxe Case Trimmer

Got the Lee Deluxe Case Trimmer, the one that works in a reloading press. and cut down 100 plus cases. Thing works okay but, the instructions suggest you'll only need five turns or so to get a 223 down to the right length. NOT SO! Try 12-15 turns or more if it's really stretched out.

Life is good.

I got the same one for 762 x 39 and decided to remove the chamfer/deburr blades. They seem to bring my case mouth to a knife edge and I'm not good with that. The blades sometimes got stuck in the slot and trimmed my brass too short and knife edged.

I'm happy with it now with the blades removed.

Yep, I agree. 15-25 turns to trim it right with a Lee deluxe.

The number of turns required depends on how long your brass is. if you have letting your brass get very long then it may take more turns. I trim mine so they are as long as possible, in other words trimming them as least as possible. I feel this may give the bullet a little more of a start pressure. I got the power adapter and I use that in my cordless drill. One thing I found that works the best is to make sure you are putting hand pressure in a downward fashion on the press arm so the ram remains high and keep the pressure on that while you are spinning the cutting head be it by hand or with power.

So, do you like it better than the Lee case length gages and a drill?

If I have brass that I suspect is very long ( such as may occur during cartridge conversions) then I will do the case length gage and a drill routine. For "normal" trim times I use the QT.

Well, i know my 7mm Rem Mag cases lengthen a good bit.
I was doing it by hand.
Drill makes things much easier on the hands, and way faster!

I've been thinking about the QT for a while. Guess i'll drop the funds for it.
AFTER my new shotgun comes in Thursday, and still 1 payment left on the Forbes.

As the owner of the Trim-It II, I would worry about carpal tunnel syndrome trimming 223! I trim it by the 1000’s!

I used my QT yesterday and with the electric drill powered attachment I could do a case in ~ 1 second.
