Used Stainless 226 w/ SRT Value

This gun has some cosmetic damage, but what do you think it's worth? The guy is offering it to me in a trade...

i'd offer him $425, but go as high as $500. that's more than a little normal wear.

Unfortunately, if he is the original purchaser, he paid at least $800 if not more. $450-$500 is MORE than fair, but most people who spend $800 + on a handgun somehow think they'll get most of it back at resale. FYI - a CPO P226 can be had in the neighborhood of $500.

the only reason i went that high is because of the SRT. without it, in that shape, no higher than $400

Was there an overlap in manufacturing of non-railed models with SRT? I thought SRT wasn't added until all the models came standard with a rail.

He will take a glock as trade, see what a used glock 17 would go for (far more out there do you should get a good average)

Without the rail ...that's got to be a pretty old gun ..../ but I don't remember when they started putting rails on all of them either for sure.

I'd pass on it ....

Those aren't just scratches they are knicks and gouges, to me that means this gun wasn't taken care of very well and abused. I would pass.

I'm also not so sure any part of that gun is stainless. The slide looks like it has the two-piece roll pins SIG used on folded carbon steel slides, and I think I can make out a separate breech block on the top of the slide behind the ejection port, instead of the integrated breech block machined into a stainless slide.

Also, I can't quite make out the serial number, but the frame looks like one from before SIG ever made frames from stainless steel.

I think that is a nickel gun where the finish has deteriorated.

Did a little digging. If the serial is what it appears to be, U 135 029, it should be from the mid 80's, so I think wgsigs is correct, it's a nickel finish not stainless. Also, if the dating is correct the SRT is aftermarket, and given the parts that the SRT kit is comprised of, definitely check it out if you intend to trade/purchase. The grips would be consistent with a 226 of that era, which I should have noticed before
