SRT Baffle stack with no index
So I recently purchased this DLO tube Sterling Mk 5 built by John Andrewski with an SRT suppressor.
![]() Decided to clean 20+ years of crap out of it before using it. Emailed Doug Melton of SRT and he told me how to open it up. ![]() Got it apart and looking much better now. ![]() Now when I put it back together neither the spacer tubes nor the baffles have any indexing guides. When I look online at other suppressor manufacturers' products they seem to line up the baffle notches, frequently with index guides to make it idiot proof. Doug told me that when I reassemble the suppressor the notches should be rotated 120° from one to the next. John Andrewski said the drag/disturbance by the notches will affect the bullet path if they are in line. I'm having a problem reconciling that with the way other manufacturers seem to do their baffle stacks- with the notches inline. Has the research proven it doesn't matter? My question is- Should I do it the way Doug intended (suppressor was made 25 years ago) or just line up the notches like everyone else does it? Secondary question- synthetic motor oil or synthetic high temp grease for the suppressor threads? Thanks! |
