"Not to stray too far off topic, but have you considered putting grandpa's gun on display and buying something a little easier to repair/replace for range use?"

Now just where in the hell is the fun in that?

I LOVE shooting my oldies but goodies.

I don't have anything as exotic as a .41 Long Colt or some of the other true oddities (well, I do have an 11mm French Ordnance revolver, but Starline won't be making that one... ever), but I have some that have been very hard to find brass for.

That just makes finally being able to pull the trigger and bring them back to live all the sweeter.

No way in hell would I go through the effort to anneal and fireform when they are commercially available from Starline. Guarantee that if the article had been written after Starline started making brass, there would be no mention of forming brass from .38Spl.

I don't know if this was mentioned before but you should probably prepare for casting your own bullets.

Craig...I'll probably get into casting at some point, but for now, in the learning stages, I think I'll stick with pre-formed bullets. Buffalo Arms carries the bullets and brass both at a good price(relatively speaking) so I can get my supplies pretty much all from one place. Oddly enough, they don't sell primers, but maybe that is some sort of fed regulation. No telling. Would you guys suggest using a bullet sizer with pre-cast bullets, or is that standard procedure always?

Butch.
