How would I know if my 870P has the new style flexitab elevator? I don't want to buy the conversion kit, unless I absolutely have too. Any help would be appreciated.

If the shell carrier is slotted, it's the new style. And they've been around for a while. If memory serves, I did mine in the early 90s or late 80s.

The 870 manual doesn't mention how the flexi-tab is to be used. Anyone here tell me what it's for and how to use it? Thanx.

The old style shell carrier(elevator) would allow a shell that was not quite far enough in the magazine to come back behind the carrier, tying up the weapon. It required either disassembly to clear it or a method of holding down the slide release while hammering the butt into a hard surface. Both took too much time. The flexitab stopped that.
No changes in procedures are required. |
