sw model?

hello there!

I'm buying a s&w revolver and I have an offer but I'm not sure which model is. the owner told me it is an AJ 2-6800 model, 3,5" barrel, six shot cylinder, inox, adjustable rear sight.
I just can't figure the model and he is not able to explain me.

could anybody help me?
thank you

The revolver in the picture is a Smith & Wesson Model 686.
The actual barrel length is 4 inches measured from the front of the cylinder, not the front of the frame.

Oh wow. I'm sorry. I admit I did not full read your thread. I apologize. I thought you were looking for one.

I have a Model 19.

I don't know what that is. Guilty.

Its a 686 for sure. Its the only 357 mag stainless with a full underlug for a 4 in barrel. I'm pretty sure there was never a 627 with a 4 in full underlug barrel, so by elimination, its a 686 without doubt.

Hi,
Your picture is a little fuzzly but here is mine 686-2 4 inch with Pachmayr grips and it looks like yours.

FWIW, If you change out your stalks, hang on to the original S&W walnut target grips. They are a bit pricey to replace.

"AJ 2-6800"

That's not the model. It's very likely a partial serial number. Serial numbers for S&W revolvers in the 1980s went to a 3 letter plus four digit system.
