Picitinny mounted varmint light (Please advise)
I am in the market for a gun mounted, self contained, long range varmint light. My RRA Varmint A-4 can shoot 300 yards easy but obviously that kind of light is not necessary.
I'd prefer a light that will mount on my (soon to be) free float quad rail. Thanks. Michael On second thought... If I were to mount a light that was bright enough it would have to be on the side so as to avoid blocking the scope view. On the other hand I'm not sure I like the idea of a heavy light hanging off of my real nice scope. What do you guys think of the nightforce brand scope mounted lights??? You want the light to be mounted out in front of the scope, and an extension tube is helpful. Otherwise, you can have side-scatter light come into the scope and mess up the deal.
For years, I've just held a Streamlight SL20 alongside the forearm of my rifle. Granted, my hands are fairly large. The Streamlight doesn't have the side-scatter of a Q-Beam. I've no experience with these "modern" lights. |
