45 Colt load
Anyone have a real powder-puff load for my conversion cylinder SA replica? I have brass and primers. I need dies and bullets. I'll order the dies in the next couple of days. For bullets I'm thinking a 200gr LRN at ~700fps unless someone has a better suggestion. I have Red Dot and Universal, so loads using them would be nice, but I could also buy new powder.
Any suggestions?

6.5 to 8 grains of Unique with a 250gr RNFP is a classic colt load, low recoil, accurate and cheap to load.
I recently switched to American Select, 6.5 grains. Much cleaner than Unique. I think both these loads are about 800+/- fps. Alliant has some data on their website you could check out: http://www.alliantpowder.com/ |

I have been very pleased with Trailboss for 45colt. I am using 4.9grains of trailboss under a 250gr LRNFP. I have chronographed this load and I get avg 620fps from this load from a S&W PC Slab side 625 with 6.5in barrel. There is always great discussions about the affects of porting on FPS and this model was ported directly from the S&W Performance Center.

Last week I finally had everything I needed to load 45Colt. I had a day off work, set up the press and loaded up 100 cartridges using a 250gr LRNFP over 4.9gr TrailBoss. Took them to the range and had me a good time. They shot real nice out of the Pietta. Just wish I had brought another hundred.
Thanks for the load data Mr. RevolverGuy! When I got home I loaded a couple hundred 9mm. You all can start calling me Grymster Bin Loadin

Here's something we don't get near enough of -- and need to see more of:
Updates! --Guy comes and posts a question to get some info, help, or share some recipes or experiences. --Guy takes the ideas and runs with them, and puts them in to production. --Guy takes the fruit of the labor to the range and sends them forth with glee. --Guy comes back to the original thread to leave an update on whether or not it worked. Niiiice!
