Dawn!
"Tough on grease"
...also tough on gun oil and other firearm cleaning chemicals that end up on your hands!! Regular hand soap never seemed to get the stuff off my hands after a good cleaning and the smell would hang around too. No more! |

I know ... Dawn is remarkable soap. I put a squirt of it in a tub of water and clean my black powder revolvers. Don't need anything else, though I have a bar of Ivory floating around in the water so I can work up a lather on brushes for scrubbing stubborn fouling.
Ivory is good because it floats, so I can always find it. I don't know what makes Dawn so different, but it surely is -- for the better.

Also great for degreasing prior to rust bluing. A couple squirts of dawn in the boiling water degrease tank and ten minutes later as clean as if you used lye just much safer.

Hot water and Dawn are great for cleaning off oily stuff.
They even use it to rescue birds contaminated with crude. http://www.cnbc.com/id/36875125/Resc...rom_P_G_s_Dawn |

I use a powdered laundry soap. I learned this trick from an old time mechanic. It works on most sticky greasy gunk

I’ve always preferred Palmolive; although the last bottle I bought seemed more watered down. I learned years ago to put the Palmolive on my hands and rub it in, then add the water.
