Later this month I will visit a friend in Palo Alto, CA. I've promised to introduce him into the wonderful world of shooting. Does anyone know a reasonable range in that area with some interesting guns for rental (possibly some sigs, hk's etc)?
thanx!

It's been a while since I was in the bay area, but last time I was there, there was an indoor place in either Mountain View or Sunnyvale, and another in South San Francisco, off 101 at Oyster Point Blvd. It was called Jackson Arms then, but they'd had some problems (icluding a suicide), so they may not even be there any more.

There's an outdoor range in the Los Altos Hills, but I never went there, so I don't know if it'll work.

You can go across the bay to the Chabot Gun Club in Hayward. Again, I never went there, but from what I heard, it wasn't bad, considering it's in a liberal, urban area of a liberal state.

In any case, have your friend do some homework before you get there.

Your best bet's probably National Shooting Club, in Santa Clara.
