Mossburg 715T.... Pulled the trigger

Ok, I finally pulled the trigger and bought one. For my nephew

ya I'll shoot it too. Something cheap to plink with. Ive hear good and bad but the out the door price was $281.05. So not bad as ive dropped that and more in an evening at the casinos.

Question is most say strip and clean it... which i would normally do to any gun I shoot.... but my main go to gunsmith ( he builds ar platforms said he's really not taken a 715t apart) said best not to take any polymer apart too often because possibly of stripping plastic wigh steel screws. And because its the 702 plinkster underneath to just spray bolt and up into trigger assembly with your favorite cleaning and lube and swab the barrel.

This sound right to you guys? Give me a pistol or M1 garand and i can strip and clean in my sleep..... but little new to this polymer clam shell going on with this thing. Thanks in advance

Your gunsmith is right. The flimsy plastic shell of the 715T is just asking to be broken if you take it apart repeatedly.

A friend bought one, shot it one time, sold it for a little less than he paid. I never even saw the gun, so I can't say anything +/- about it. However, my stepdaughter was given a 702 last year for Christmass. So she likes it, and I like it because it shoots, and does well for a cheap gun. I pulled it all apart after a few thousands rounds to clean the hidden parts, it is somewhat delicate, I wouldn't break it down to often.
Hope you and the nephew enjoy it. For the price the 702 action is alright as far as I've seen. And that's 3000-4000 rounds. Surprisingly, bulk pack golden bullets have worked the best.

Shoots nice. Only two out of 300 failed to fire. Both were ammo misfires. Gun was easy to zero in. Took three 5 round group's. And though the rear sight is really cheap as it doesn't click but just turns it does adjust with approximately the same trurns as your used to. We were hitting playing cards and gatorade bottles @ 25yards after the first 15 rounds. Next trip I'm moving him over to the 50yard range.
I did just pick up red dot for under $50 for it because as good as the cheap sights are they don't stay in place as they turn too easy but the red dot will lock the adjustment in place.
