Kimber UCII, black with cream-colored VZ grips ... it has that wonderful 1911 feel, and the contrast between the black gun and the light-colored grips always makes me happy ...

There are some terriffic handling handguns out there, and I have my faves, but the very best was (surprisingly) designed way back in 1898... if you have never handled (and/or shot) a Luger, then you are missing out on one great pistol experience, good looking too.

Full size !911. Second place I guess would be a 4 in S&W revolver. But it's a distant second. I'm surprised noboby has said their 92fs. Either way. It's gotta be steel.

Well I'm still learning to shoot these two but after 46 years of shooting them I have to admit I'm probably not going to get any better with either one of them.

This is My S&W M41 and my Colt 1911A1 NM at 100 yards shooting offhand on a really nice shooting day.

To my original 3 (1911, K frame, CZ75), I may have to add the HK P7. There is a lot to be said for an extremely low bore axis.

FNS 40 is totally my new favorite for feel, balance and comfortable shooting. So much I ran back and got a FNS 9 to go with it. Just one that fits ME, my hands and my style of shooting. Yep.. my new favorite's.

In terms of handling, I am tied between any full sized 1911 and most Hi-Powers. While they are not the best handling pistols, I am a H&K fan. I absolutely love the Mk. 23, but its a brick in the hand!

The fit and finish is just so excellent, clearances are exceedingly tight, and there is just something about a giant Blackhawk action (which is pretty good anyway) that makes this one my favorite.

They just feel like they were made for my hands.

A Walther PPK or Bersa Thunder is a close second.

I agree, those older K-frame revolvers came from the factory with really tight, slick action. Very little play, and they don't rattle when you shake them.

My Kimber Target II, 9mm with pachmeyer grips. They come prettier but they dont work better. I could group 6" at 15yds literally with my eyes closed.
Im sure most any 1911 would have similar results. A close second is Beretta 96 with Hogue grips. Its like grabbing a breast, you just dont want to let go.
