Ruger LCRX with stag grips

I haven't seen anyone post something like this, so I thought that I would share mine. No, not real stag, faux stag, but they look OK. Looks pretty nice in my Roy Backer pancake holster from a few feet away!

Made out of cherry wood, then painted white, dremeled the stag bark lines, and stained with walnut and walnut wash over the white paint. Letting it dry today, will darken the bark on the right side a little and then polycoat when completely cured. One piece grip made out of two panels glued together. Hand routed the inletting and shaped it like a boot grip.

Makes an uninteresting-looking gun interesting. I think it might look even better if the bottom of the grip were more "rounded" instead of ending so "square" in shape. This might also allow the grip to "print" less. Good job though; I like it.

I've owned a great deal of revolvers. Smith 19,629, ruger Alaskan, security six, 585, Colt official police,etc., and I can vouch that this is one of the nicest revolvers I have ever carried and owned. It's all business, lightweight, great DA and SA trigger, solid, handles the hottest loads, easy to carry in pocket, and I could go on and on.

Got some Buffalo Bore outdoorsman +P and those loads are not comfortable, but manageable out of this super light revolver.

That's a SL Variant speed loader, considered the best. I've used the Safariland, the star, HKS, and this beats them all in reliability and speed.
They are impossible to find, and I paid a fair sum for this one! Grip panels had to be really thin for the loader to work.

Although I rarely or never use it single action, the hammer made a big difference because I hated the way the standard LCR looks! Wishing that they would make this in .357 and I would be a happy camper! Literally!

I have the three inch LCRx. Here's mine with some new badger grips I just got. I like them a lot. Made carry a lot easier.

A little less blunt, but inspite of your excellent work, nothing looks right on any LCR other than rubber grips.
But your craft would be absolutely perfect on a Blackhawk, other SAA look alikes, and classic blued double action revolvers. Beautiful work, wrong application.

I don't know where this rules comes from, but fortunately, I am not bound by conventional thinking! I like being different.

I never liked the looks of any fake (I mean "faux") stag grips except the ones old cops had on their Smith and Colt revolvers I saw as a boy while growing up in the fifties. Sorry but I think they look goofy on the little Ruger revolver.

Not really a rule. Just personal taste. To me a classic grip just looks out of place on a modern plastic fantastic revolver.
Other than the safety rules everyone should have, I don't have any other than #1.
Maybe I can have you make me some great looking stag grips for my Hi-Points, or 1895 Nagant. LOL

I like the look. The contrast is nice. Gives the gun a little character rather than being a black lump.

I like it, nice work. Even thought I also would rather it be more rounded towards the bottom I can still appreciate the work you have done. I am also surprised that Ahrends or Grashorn has not made a good set of grips yet for these nice revolvers. The ones on Radny97 are the only ones I have seen that are interesting to me.

I like these. Kind of like a banana style grip on a j-frame. Probably conceal pretty well. How are they to hold on to when firing?
