Stuck primer
I'm using an RCBS hand held priming tool and a primer got stuck half way in the cartridge. Does anyone know how to clear it? RCBS is closed for the weekend.
Nevermind I got it.

I have two; they seen the worst (production, ay?)
Suggestion: if things go worse (you'll know) put on gloves and force it.
Oh, remove the tray first You already got on safety glasses, right?

Further suggestion
Agree with Weshoot2, but would further suggest wearing hearing protection. Primers going off are LOUD. They are, after all, explosives.
FWIW, primers seem to be pretty amenable to forcing if you take it careful and slow. I once put one in sideways, believe it or not--don't know what I was thinking, it took quite a bit of force--ruined the primer, of course, but it didn't go off and I got it flattened out so the case base was flat. Have had one or 2 go in a bit crooked, and try to jam halfway, and they also went in with slow careful force. Those cases fired normally after loading. I use a Lee hand primer tool, and have never had a bit of trouble with it except operator error.

no knock on LEE, but
I had two used for production; blew the pot-metal shellholder portion off BOTH the same day (yes, I was makin' lotsa ammo...)
Switched to the RCBS (better warranty) but as of yet zero woes.

Lee vs RCBS
Weshoot2--I've heard similar bad things from others re. Lee products. Can only repeat my own experience. Mebbe I'm just lucky.
2 failures in one day, eh? That'd be enough to turn anybody off.

Lee
The Lee auto-prime is about the best 10 buks I ever spent.
The lee Perfect Powder Measure on the other hand, taught me a perfect lesson. CHEAP ENDS UP COSTING YOU MORE The only things with a primers I have done is seat them up side down in the case. I very carfully, pushed them out with my decapping die (with ear pro on and my eyes closed) __________________________________ An old west lawman once said when asked why he carried a .45, "because they don't make a .46" |

Just decap it, I decap live primers all the time.
Or throw that round away. I doubt one round will break the bank |

Folks - I think everyone is failing to read bill k's third sentence in the original post. And that sentence was there before any replies were posted.
