Need Some Help With Information About a M1 Garand
Hey guys, I require your expertise!! I recently acquired a M1 Garand. I am looking for information regarding this Rifle. If you need more pictures let me know! Thanks!

Its been rebuilt atleast once, probably twice , a real mixmaster of WWII and Post War Parts.

Just some points to confirm what Orlando said. The rifle was originally made in May, 1942. The barrel was made in Dec. 1947, the bolt is from 1940, the stock from after 1950, the op rod is post-WWII.

If you can get hold of throat and muzzle wear gages, you can probably get some idea of it's value by looking at the CMP site and how they grade Garands. Because of the part mix, this is a shooter and not a collector's item. CMP prices tend to be a bit lower than gunshops, and figure the optimistic pricing you often find at gun shows will be half-again higher than CMP prices as a place to start bargaining.

When I was buying the rifle, my father told me to have the seller guage the barrel in front of us before we bought it. The throat is at 3.2 and muzzel at 2.3. I understand that this is mix match of parts. With the barrel in good condition, what type of value do you think the rifle has? This is the first M1 that I've purchased (definitly not the last), so I am new to the game. I was pretty excited when I was looking at the rifle and I am pretty sure that the seller knew it. I just want to make sure that I didn't get raked over the coals.

This falls within CMP Service Grade rifles $625. Same rifle selling on secondary market depending on actual condition of finish and stock would be around $700-$800. Less if wood is beat up, parkerizing is worn , pitting, and bore have frosting/dark

agree with orlando, $650 service grade rifle. at a gun show it could probably nab $900 or so to the right buyer but that's about what they are coming straight from the CMP.
one thing I'd like to point out is that there are no more service grade war time production rifles, all they have left are H&Rs. in a few yards it may appreciate greatly in value.
