Ruger P85 pachmyr rear sight

I just tried to install a new rear sight on my P85. It is a Pachmyr white outline rear sight. It is such a loose fit that I can push it in with a thumb past being centered. I can also push it back out with a thumb. There is no lockdown screw. Just windage and elevation adjustments. Anyone have any experience with this one? Or suggestions?

I put MeproLight night sights on my P85, when I had it - and had no such issue.

If I had your gun, I would insert a thin metal shim in the floor of the dovetail, under the sight, to tighten it in the dovetail cut - tight enough so that it would have to be drifted into place.

Any protruding shim material, after installation, can be trimmed and/or camoflaged with a Sharpie.

Got the rear sight in place. I used a .002" metal strip and trimmed it to the same size as the rear sight. I placed it in the channel that the sight is drifted into, then drifted the sight in place. Its a really tight fight.
