Kimber Govt .22 scope mounting
I recently bought a CMP Kimber 82M gov't target rifle. It has a receiver dovetail groove which the very nice Australian made target sight slides on to. I want to do 2 things - mount a scope on this dovetail and use the rear sight for my Ruger 10/22.
The problem is that the dovetail dimensions are smaller than the standard 3/8" dovetail. The groove measures about 10mm with vernier calipers, but the actual dimension is smaller because the jaws of the caliper won't go all the way into the groove. Is this a 9.5 or 10mm dovetail? If so, where do I buy a scope mount that fits? And, how do I find a Ruger 10/22 adapter rail for this dovetail? I am trying to avoid paying a machine shop or gunsmith to modify a 3/8 dovetail adapter. Surely there are others that have run in to this problem and found a solution. Thanks, stewld |
