I think I have less than $140 in mine... But special case.
Even my Bear Creek bargain basement barrel can do 2MOA with handloads. |

Yeah, there's often lots of discussion about accuracy even when the primary use will be blasting the cheapest ammo available offhand at targets too large to miss. |

I'm waiting for my PSA kit to ship. I sourced a lower and a couple 30round mags locally and when all set and done, I'll have spent $402+change, tax and delivery included. I'm confident it'll be a good starter for me.

you can't go wrong with a basic already made PSA.

The best one for under a $1000 is the one you decide to purchase. First decide on the calibre. then pick the one that feels real good in your hands and buy that one. They don't call the AR "A MAN'S BARBIE DOLL " for nothing. Once you buy it the sky (or you wallet) is the limit. Make sure you buy a couple hundred rounds with it. ENJOY

For a starter AR, I like this one from Palmetto State Armory:
https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...516446246.html Rifle length gas system, A2 buttstock, floating forend, 20" barrel, 1 in 7" twist, only a little more than an entry level carbine (S&W Sport II, Ruger AR-556), lacks sights, but this setup begs for a decent scope.

If you're in SW Florida, I just assembled an entry level AR that I'd stack up against a S&W or Ruger anyday. I'm not sure if I'm going to sell on consignment locally or just put it on Gunbroker. Either way, I've got about $450 invested in it. If you've got some decent tools and a little skill, you too can assemble a pretty nice rifle affordably.
