I'm being tempted by an H&R 949 revolver,,,

I'm being tempted by an H&R 949 revolver,,,
From what I can gather it's a 9-shot, DA/SA, cowboy style revolver.

That's a bit odd to me,,,
A western style gun in DA/SA.

The Evil Pawn Shop Guy has a $189.00 price tag on it,,,
I'm pretty certain that would be out-the-door for me.

It's not in bad shape at all,,,
Still has most of the original finish,,,
You can easily tell it had been holstered a bit.

You all know my passion for partnering a rifle and handgun,,,
I think this would be a very appropriate partner for my Mossberg 340-KC.

Both are good old American companies,,,
Both have the same old-school vintage look about them,,,
Personally I think they will look great encased together on some green cloth.

Whaddaya think gentlemen?

$189 with no tax sounds good to me. That's about what you'll see them go for on gunbroker after factoring in shipping and transfer fee.

I think you probably already bought it, and are making us await the pictures of your newest lady.

I'd sure like to see the pictures when you get it encased with the green cloth.

Those are great little guns. Built to last and the one I had was very accurate.

I've never owned one of those, but I've owned other H&R's that shared a common lockwork. Good little guns. Don't expect to be getting a Model 17 or anything (I know you don't) but they're quite serviceable. The DA pulls usually take two men, and a small boy to handle, but SA is usually OK.

As for why they are a DA but look like a SA, you have to remember the times. It's heyday was a time when western movies and TV shows ruled. People wanted a gun that looked like what "Cowboy Bob" carried.

And they just drip with nostalgia.

I love the H&R's, but could never find one that was accurate enough for my needs.

You seem to like it fine already, so I'd suggest you go for it.

Yeah, I'm 90% certain to get it,,,

You guys can read between the lines very well.

Yeah, I'm 90% certain to get it,,,
I just need to give it a good inspection first.

When I saw it in the case yesterday,,,
I didn't have enough time to thoroughly check it out.

So after reading several articles and watching a few YouTube videos,,,
If the bore is decent and the action has a tight feel,,,
I'll most certainly be it's newest owner.

I had been looking for a High-Standard Sentinel to pair with my old Mossie,,,
But the overall look and aesthetic of this H&R is there in spades.

So, on my lunch hour I'll go and give it a good inspection,,,
If it turns out to be tight and serviceable,,,
I'll take it home with me.
