Swiss 1 1/2 F Anybody ever use this for BPCR?

I have a new container of Swiss 1 1/2 FG powder for my trapdoor rifle and wonder if there is any reason not to use it? I don't have a powder press so would not be using very hot load (compressed loads).

All the trapdoor loads I see use 2F or 3F. New to loading black powder, but have loaded Triple Seven and Smokeless for this a bunch.

Any recommendations or thoughts appreciated.

1884 Springfield trapdoor rifle
45-70
starline brass (unmodified primer pockets)
CCI 200 large rifle primers
58gr Swiss 1 1/2 FG (?) (this is the weight of powder volume to bottom of bullet 3/32 or so above fully seated bullet depth)

I load .38-55 and .40-65 with Swiss 1 1/2 Fg.
It does not need as much compression as Goex, so you should be fine.

My favorite in a 45-70 for the reasons stated above.

How about this?

I am planning on modifying the flash holes to .096" per J.S./Pat Wolf. Any concerns with charging the modified cases with Triple Seven?

Might seem like a silly question, but I don't want broken guns and missing body parts!

I have plenty of cases so I wouldn't have to use them with the sub. More curious about performance - an experiment I guess. Thought I would try five rounds and see how they shoot.

I've never used Triple Seven, but with Swiss 1.5 I didn't mod the cases even though I've read the book.

Most all of the BPCR shooters I know use swiss 1 1/2. I think 777 would be to hot for a trapdoor. Also is not allowed in NRA matches.

Also the only modification I would do is to debur the flash holes for uniforimity.

I have loaded the triple seven before for the trapdoor, but did not have the 405 HB mold. Now that I do, I want to find out if I can get some consistency from it.

The Nowood BPC Match allows BP subs. It is in my backyard so I have to make it this year. Missed Quigley 2 yrs in a row now. Have to get back in the groove!
