870 serial # Question

I was told if a 870 express has an M at the end of the serial # it is a magnum receiver. Is this true?

TIA
Don

Mine do. Of course they also say Magnum on the side!

My uncle won a raffle years ago and got an early 3" Express with an M in the serial number. The box says 3" , but the gun isn't marked Magnum. Otherwise it's identical to my Express Magnum.
