Remington 722 .222

Hi I read sometime ago about this fellow that had a 722 in .222 manufactured 1952 he went on to say how well it shot considering it had the 26 inch thin barrel. He went on to say Rem. made 2 different weight 26 inch barrels at that time. Has anyone ever heard of this if so what are the diameters at the muzzle. thanks Bob

And not that thin. One factor that put the .243 ahead of the .244 was the Model 70 Featherweight's higher style and handier carry. That and 10 grains of bullet weight.

According to Remington (aka: the horse's mouth), the .222 Model 722 was only available with either a 26" or a 24" bbl, w/o mention of different bbl weights.

But, If I learned anything else, over the years, it's to never say never, when referring to what may/may not have came out of a factory.
