Spencer Carbine

I recently inherited a Winchester 30-30. I already have a Cimarron 1873 in 45. I’m fixing to sell the 1873 because I dont feel the need to have two rifles that load from a loading gate. I also want to use this as an opportunity to buy a new rifle. I am torn between a Henry 1860 and Spencer Carbine (both by Cimarron). I know that you cannot fire hot rounds through the Henry because of the toggle link. Can you fire “hot loads” through the Spencer? My gut tells me yes but I wanted to make sure. Knowing this MIGHT help me decide.

Thanks

Get AWAY from the Civil War rifles if you want "hot loads".

Appreciate them for what they are. Don't try and make a magnum out of them ! ! ! !

You've got to load them light. Joe Bilby's Civil War Firearms is a good primer.

The Spencers are a lot of fun to shoot. They are a pretty strong action much stronger than a 1873 Win toggle. That said if you want to use hot loads get a 92 Win.
