? on Springfield 12 ga shotgun.
Newbie here,
I have a few questions on two guns I was given through an inheritance a few months ago. One is a Springfield double barrel shotgun, 12 ga and a springfield model #83 single bolt action rifle. Both in great shape. The shotgun has little identification on the barrel. It says "Springfield" then under it says, J.STEVENS ARMS COMPANY, CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS,USA. On top of the barrels it says on one barrel, "Selected Forged Steel. On the other, "Proof Tested 12 gauge." The single bolt action has the same address and says, MODEL 83 .22 SHORT.LONG OR LONG RIFLE. Anyone know where I can go on the web to find out more about them? Year they were made and are they considered collectors? I appreciate any and all help on this. Dave A. |
