de-pistolization
Ive already decided to convert one of my pistols to a conventional stocked rifle--decided to try a satern barrel in 223 Wylde--neither of which I've ever used before. I've shied away from satern up till now because of the whole "grendel wars" thing when everyone was trying to bootleg their way around Bill Alexander's patent--resulting in part in the "type 1 vs type 2" bolt configuration confusion.

I converted most of mine, but a few I kept the uppers for use on my registered SBR lower receivers.
I've not used a Satern barrel, but the sole .223 Wylde barrel I have shoots as well as I can. I like that most are 1/8 twist. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Still wrapping up overseas assignment--so it will be a month or so before the build can be done. Satern embraced polygonal rifling early on--as did the original black hole weaponry--I don't know what ever happened to that; I wonder if Shilen's "ratchet" rifling is similar to that.

Anyone bought a 5.5" flash hider and do a pin/weld yet? That seems to be the cheapest option.

I'm not sure that would be much cheaper than a decent 16" barrel... unless you can do the pin/weld yourself. I did put an SBX barrel from Tactical Solutions on a couple of my Ruger Chargers (Standard and Take-down)... 12.4" barrel (OEM was 10") but with a silencer shroud welded to the muzzle so it meets the necessary length for a rifle. With my YHM Stinger attached, it only adds about a 1/2" in overall length.
