Stoeger M2000 bolt release

The list of problems with this gun is long. Bought this gun about 12 years ago. Never fired it. Then last year decided to give my Mossberg a rest for dove hunting. So I take this never been fired gun out and give it a try. Well, Stoeger had used some kind of crap lube at the factory that had decomposed into sludge. So, I super clean this crap "lube" off of every part of the gun, total disassembly, and completely lube. (By the way, assembly is a b@@ch). Do a functions check. All good. But I notice bolt release is stiff. Really stiff.
Anybody know how to make the bolt release a bit more friendly?
