Bsa hunter 222 stock info

Hi everyone...I've been to to this forum before, but never related to rifles. What a great deal of information you guys share. Thank you all for doing that.
This time I'm looking for some help. I currently own my grandfather's BSA HUNTER in .222 REM cal. For some reason he decided a custom made stock was necesary to replace the original (I wish I know why). Unfortunatelly, the rifle's stock is broken and I'll love to replace it, so my question is if anyone could tell me what can I do. I found some replacement stock for a BSA Monarch short action, I wonder if it uses the same stock as the HUNTER. If it does'nt.... Does anyone know if I can use a diferent rifle's stock on it?....I've bought some BOYDS stocks in the past and I love their quality, so it would be a great asset if I knew of a compatible stock, unfortunatelly, they dont have the BSA Hunter on their listings.

Thank you all for your thoughts and have a great 2013!!!
