First it was AR mags, now pistol mags?

I am not a panic buyer. Haven't bought much in this recent craze. I thought I had enough pistol magazines but I'd like a few more than enough. I see they are now very difficult to find and going for $100 a piece now.

When did this happen? Was I so busy shaking my head at the pmag auctions that I didn't see the pistol magazine prices skyrocket as well?

So do I buy a few at now $100 a mag or wait until the price comes down?

Are people that sure of a "high capacity" ban now?

I'm really glad I'm not in bad shape...but see now that having a few more pistol mags would be nice. Perhaps I can sell/trade some AR mags.

Yeah. Handgun mags have been blowing out as fast as pmags. Glock mags are gold right now.

Not sure if you have a Beretta 92 but they have 15rd factory Beretta mags in stock on Midway at $20 a pop.

I'd wait.
I'm not going to spend $100 on a mag.
Even if there's a ban I'll buy some 10 round mags for range duty and keep my standard mags for carry/HD. For range duty I'd rather have four 10 round mags @ $25ea. than one 15/17/19 round mag @ $100.

You mention the Beretta mags, I noticed that too. They are still reasonable. What's up with that?

I suppose I will set aside two duty mags and use the others for training. Good idea.

Just wait and be patient; keep an eye out. Don't spend ridiculous money unless you absolutely need something, which you don't right now.

^^^^^ What he said.

I started buying a couple of magazines here and there for my handguns before the crap hit the fan.

I have a few for the rifles but should have bought more.

The way things are going, I don't see prices going down nor do I see more availability anytime soon.

Someone told me Beretta USA.com had decently priced 92 mags. 15 or 16 round mags for like 30 or 40 bucks.
Sorry to get off topic, a $100 mag is just really not worth it. Your going to end up baby-ing the dam thing (or at least I would). Wait to see what happens. I know it sucks, but all in all 10 rounds is better than 7!

I'm about in the opposite position. Need to arrange a trade!

The run on pistol mags happened the same time as it did for the AR mags. Some people just did not notice they were sold out of most of the popular makes and model gun mags 1.5 months ago.

I bought 2 new pistols back in early Dec (Pre Sandyhook) and mags could be had for just about any pistol a couple weeks later (Post Sandyhook) and they were gone.

Heh heh heh.

I hear you. A friend of mine went out and bought a new Springfield M1A and it only came with one 5 round magazine. I loaned him two 20 round Checkmate magazines until he could grab some. I have not talked to him for a while so I don't know if he was able to get some or not.

I think it will settle down but I don't think it will be soon.

I need to get some more for my LR308 but can't find those either.

It is a work in progress. . .

It's going to take some time to refill the pipeline, and magazines are the big bone of contention in the MSM right now. Glock mags and AR mags are out of stock everywhere right now.

However, I notice that Brownell's has 1911 mags in stock.

Good luck to him, it was hell finding a 20rd M1A magazine for a decent price. I found a Springfield 20 rounder for regular price that I snatched up, but it was the only one and I refused to pay $250 for 2 mags like they are listed on gunbroker.

Any high capacity pistol mags are really in demand, but some dealers aren't jacking prices just to take advantage of the situation.

I shoot STIs and want to give a shout out to Dawson Precision, an STI distributer. On his website prices for hi-cap STI mags haven't changed at all. In fact Dave Dawson has a statement on the site saying he won't raise his prices unless his own mag costs go up. While you might have a bit of a wait due to demand, you can still buy at reasonable prices. It's nice having a shooter running a gun company. He gets it. Thanks Dave.

On day 1, all my local gun stores had no modern firearms or magazines. I cannot even find (in a store) eight round magazines for a 1911.

I have a hard time paying $100 per mag.

Suppose if they get banned, can buy 10 round mags for the range and keep the 17 rounders for social work.

Refusing to get swept up in the emotional buying.

I am willing to pay a bit more for them but not 2-3X as much.

In time, The people that are panic buying all the stuff will be out of money and prices will go down. And if you look and be patient, there are still good deals out there.

You might take a look at these guys: http://www.gunaccessories.com/Magazines/
I bought a couple 30 round S&W 59 series mags for a Kel Tec Sub 9 a couple weeks ago for $30 each and they arrived within a week. They are Mega Mags but seemed to be well made.

I think the glock store has everything in stock all kinds of mags and glocks at non-inflated prices too.

I would wait it out if you don't really need to have it right now.

You are in what many consider the most pro gun state in this country, I wouldn't expect any bill is going to pass in your state government that will limit the amount of bullets you are allowed to have in a magazine.

My normal carry gun is an HK P2000 LEM in .357 SIG. Uses 12 round mags. The gun came with two. I bought two more when I bought the gun. (Like most HK's, the mags were close to $50 each even back then.)

So when all this chaos really got going, I looked at all my guns and thought about the HK. In all reality, four mags was enough but it's nice to be able to practice and actually eject the mag onto a hard surface without crying. So I thought I would look around for a couple more. As you said, people wanted $100 for them. And only a couple were even for sale. I was looking on gunbroker and noticed a gun store that had ads up for new HK P2000 LEM's in .357 SIG. He only wanted $750 plus $25 shipping. And the gun came with two 12 round mags. I bought one.

So that's the crazy situation we are in. It makes more sense to buy another gun to get more mags! Hey, I've heard for years that you should have an exact duplicate of your CCW gun. In case "something happens" to your primary. I'm not complaining, you can never own too many HK's.
