CZ75 ?

Going to look at a CZ75 SPO1 tomorrow, say's it is unfired, wants 500.00 for it, is this a little high, also what's the pro's and con's on the pistol? Terry

You can check the czfirearms forum.

On a new unfired CZ-75B, I'd say it's a decent to good price. I doubt that it is a pre-b (from about 1992 and newer), CZ-75 most of those were Czech military and police weapons and will show signs of wear. That wear will mostly from being carried around in a holster for a few years, they will still function well.

If it is a newer CZ-75B. They do not have ambi controls and will be for a right handed shooter. Some people do not like the factory triggers. There are plenty of parts for customization and even a company that does just that.

I am not sure what the designation SPOI means.

Not sure if I helped all that much.

sp-01 is the designation. It has a full length dust cover/rail and different grips from the regular 75b. Looks almost identical to the sp-01 phantom which is the poly version.

Other things, they typically come with night sights, they also use 18 round magazines standard.

IMO the price is a little high. I would say closer to $450.

My son has one and it is a fine pistol. It is accurate, reliable, and low recoil but it is honking big and heavy which is fine for a range/SD pistol. Personally I don't like the trigger shape and quality of the trigger on his SP01. See if you can dry fire it a couple times to get a feel for the trigger quality.

I respectfully disagree... although not by much. I'd easily bite for $500 if "unfired" translates to "Used - NIB".

For $450... I might trip you as we were running for it.

Great gun. Factory trigger is pretty gritty although I am told they smooth up with use.

I had a trigger job done on mine along with competition hammer and spring set up.

Gun is a great shooter. I can't remember just what I paid for mine, but I am sure It was more than what you are seeing.

I would probably jump on that if I was in the market for another one.

I'd jump on it. as long as its not the tactical model. I'd rather have a safety then a decocker.

$500-550 is average price for a NIB standard CZ75 online... The cost can get higher for special finishes to about $550-600.

The SP-01 goes for $600-650 NIB... So $500 for used unfired like NIB is a good price. (purchased but never fired is still considered used... Walking out the shop doors with it automatically makes it used)

I would buy it in a heartbeat. A basic inspection can verify if its unfired, or at least had less than a box or two of ammo. Remember all CZs are test fired at the factory, about 5 rounds.

You will not notice extra wear above what would be caused by the factory test shots, until a few boxes are put through it. Its still a good price if the person only shot a couple magazines through it.

I've only seen one SP-01 locally and it was ~$650. A regular 75b was $450.

One thing to consider, CZ's get better the more they're fired. I'd take one with 1000 through it over a new one any day.

If it truly is NIB, unfired, that is a decent price. I'd go for it if it checked out OK.

The SP-01 variant goes for about $100 more than the standard CZ75. The SP-01 has a small handful of "improvements" including a light/laser rail. The rubber grips are nice as well over the standard CZ75.

Double check - there are TWO different SP-01s. The standard SP-01 is steel frame with night sights, and the SP-01 Phantom is poly frame without night sights. I have the Phantom, EXCELLENT pistol.

I have seen it for sale below $500 on Buds on sale, but not very often. If it is NIB, go for it, but see if he has an extras with it, holster, extra magazine,etc.
A fantastic place to get holsters is High Noon Holsters, who make rigs for both the standard SP-01 and the Phantom, as shown with my Phantom below. This is the rig I am wearing right now, insanely comfortable.

Basic CZ pistols come with luminescent painted 3 dot sights. These have to be exposed to a light source, such as a flashlight, in order to make them glow for a while.

True night sights use tritium vials, and don't need to be exposed to light for them to glow in the dark. My SP01 has Meprolight TruDot tritiums; came that way (the Tactical models do, standard; it's not clear from the CZ website whether the baseline SP01 comes with standard tritiums or the painted sights).

My P01 came with luminescent dots, but I had Meprolight TruDots installed.

I bough an SP-01 about 3 years ago sight unseen. I really liked the look of it and figured I'd take a chance. After paying taxes, it was $600. It's the standard model with ambi safety and night sights.

Taking a chance on this pistol was a stroke of genius, it's my favorite. It's big, heavy and is a great range and defensive gun. At $500 you should jump on it, assuming everything is in working order.

I would also add The SP01 Shadow Custom to that list just for completeness sake. I've seen several assume the Shadow was just a normal SP01 and scoff at the price.

I would buy it if it is clean. I don't want a decocker model, all of my pistols have the same safety except for my PPK. I like to keep things similar.

I had thought I'd seen SP01 Shadows, but the CZ website only listed the 75B Shadow, so I'm not sure if that's a glitch on their site, or if the SP01 Shadows are an aftermarket thing from CZCustom and a few others.

I was referring to frame size/type - the Phantom frame is poly and slightly different sized. The other SP01s are the same base frame. On my short list for CZ pistols is a CZ SP-01 Tactical, because I wanna!
