Nice offer from the F I L... Pick a broke in (already scratched) gun and have him do a cleaning with you so you know how he expects his guns cared for. Hate to return it in a condition he don't care for. Sounds like the advise here has you headed in the right direction.

Your never too old to start hunting. my dad didn't start untill he was 36. Also, beagles make good hunting dogs and very good friends. the best dog i ever had was a beagle
