most cost efficient way to obtain a carry gun w laser

would it be more cost effective/efficient to obtain one of the fine newer guns that come with lasers or would it be better to find a used but proven older model gun and then add laser grips? ( ex. - ruger lcr or maybe sp 101 and add crimson trace grips? )

Ruger is cheaper.

Compared to a pre lock S&W looks, quality and resale value is also diminished.

Im actually looking at this as well, LCR wise. The CT grip is self is 250 and up depending where you get it.

If you go the used gun route then check CT to make sure they make a laser grip that will work with that grip frame. Used S&W revolvers can be had at reasonable prices if one looks around for one. The kicker is that most times the laser grip cost half of what the gun did. Sometimes almost as much as the gun did. Buying new the price with the laser grip on it price tends to be about $50 to $85 cheaper than buying both separately.

The new S&W "Bodyguard" series 38 and 380 have built in lasers, and are reasonably priced.

The BG 380 is under $400, but it's not a revovler.

This is the best combo I've found. The grips were a birthday present for my wife and I'm pretty sure she over paid at $180 but they are worth every penny.

Lasers work for snubs as they aren't easy guns to shoot well. Hard to find used lasers and yet gun stores won't give you beans for one on a trade (which seems like people would sell them seperately).

I have bought all my Crimson Trace guards/grips on Ebay. You pay about 60% of retail.
