New Press Today

Went shopping for a new press today. Thanks for everybody's input. I looked at the RCBS Rockchucker, the Bonanza model, but chose the Lyman Crusher II.

It was $60 less than the RCBS unit, $90 less than the Bonanza and I really liked the three mounting holes and the longer stroke, especially for the longer cases like the .416 and .375's.

I don't think with those three models you could have made a bad choice. Already resized 200 5.56 and 400 7.62 cases.

Now, what about something to swedge out the crimped primer pockets on the downward stroke after decapping???

Nobody in the shops in Calgary has ever heard of such a thing. Is there???

Ok, next is a good progressive reloader to replace my 20 year old Lee Turret Press.

IMNSLE

The RCBS swage stuff won't work on the Crusher II (er, maybe with some careful modifications it might, like big washers...).

Or, chase crimp out using $3 LEE chamfer tool.

Nice press; try Forster/Bonanza die-lock rings.

RCBS primer pocket swedge

The RCBS primer pocket swedge works beautifully on any one of the 6 LYMAN T-MAG presses I use. Call/phone RCBS for instructions. Their service department should be able to tell you what to do.

i've got an orange crusher in addition to my RCBS and i use it to swage 308 using the RCBS swager---the only thing i had to do was to put some metal rings i made around the ram so they would help srip off the swaged casing........By the way i've got the one pictured on a previous post by C&H and if you don't watch it it will deform the casing rim becuase all the swaging pressure goes on the rim of the case.....and if you really get carried away you can eject a casing from the shellholder....Dick

Dick is right, but used properly and carefully, it works like a charm.
