A Savage bolt gun would be good in whatever caliber you want, .308 is perfect. i really like my SKS for hogs and have killed plenty with the 123gr. both soft point and even FMJ. Don't attack me about the FMJ's. i wasn't ever actually hunting when i've used them, just happened to run into them riding around. they worked just fine on the nasty things. Killed a bunch with an AR-15 too.

I'm with Model18, in that the 35 Remington is just about perfect for hogs. It won't destroy too much meat, will penetrate anything in North America, and it's good to 150 yards. In a Marlin 336, it's a great choice for hogs. I wish I still had mine.

Cheapest
mosin 91/30(short barrels are ear splitting) under 100 but wouldn't want a bolt action for a charging boar Cheap SKS great all around gun and would work great in my state where shots are typically under 100yds. I would continue on but I am cheap |

I love my Marlin 336 in 35 rem. but at $28.00 a box of 20, I am looking at gettin a Ruger Mini 30 in 7.62 X 39. Fun to shoot, and a lot cheaper too. Great HD gun too with a nice short 16" barrel.
