7mm -08 with cast bullets

Looking to try the Lee 130 SP-GC bullet with Red Dot, Unique, or Blue Dot powders. Lyman's 50 Edition manual doesn't show any loads using these powders. Can anyone tried them and give me any advice with loads used? I have used all three powders in many other calibers: .223 Rem/.22-250 Rem/.243 Win/.308 Win/.30-06.

QuickLoad tells me that seated to 2.75", Harris' "The Load" of 13gr/RedDot is predicted to be 36ksi/1,800fps from a 20" barrel.

I'd suggest #2 Lyman/ALOX lube, and 11.3gr (30ksi/1,680fps) to more closely match "TheLoad" performance in a larger/30-06 case to start.

Strongly suggest you get a Chrono to verify actual velocity (therefore approx pressures) to start.

Thank you...I have a Chrony and can do that. In the .308 Win with a 150 Lee SP-GC bullet I used Red Dot and found it did best with 11.0 grains. When using heavier loads, the accuracy was just unacceptable.

For my 7mm -08 the lee 130gr checked 11 grains Unique 1595 fps to 1627 fps .
I don't remember where this load came from Lyman bullet cast handbook #3 or #4 don't show Unique till 145grain cast bullet

Thank you...In an ancient Lyman Manual, which didn't have the 7mm-08 caliber, they show 10.0 Unique ~ 17.0 Unique with a 123 grain cast bullet for the 7mm Mauser.

Just tested the 7mm-08 Savage Axis rifle w/ the Lee 130 GC bullet. Used a variety of loads w/ Red Dot & Unique----most accurate load was with 10.0 Red Dot. At 200 yards I was consistently getting 4" groups and it was a on two windy days. On the third day is was less windy and I was getting smaller groups.
