Shield trigger compared to full size M&P

I'll be in the market for a new full size auto soon and I think I've ruled out the Glock. I checked out the Glock just to make sure I wasn't missing something and I really don't think that's my next gun. (see other thread) I have a M&P .22 and a Shield 9mm and I really like them both. Since they've seem to got a good thing going with the M&P line I'm thinking about the M&P 9mm. Has anyone shot both the Shield and the full size M&P 9? How does the trigger compare? I like the feel of my .22 and the 9 is the same size. I'm just wondering if the trigger is the same as the shield.

Supposedly S&W will be shipping M&Ps with the newer Shield trigger at some point, I've never heard a definitive as to when that is. I had a June dated M&P from 2012 and the stock trigger was not to lovely. But keep in mind it's a service pistol. If it really bother you, you can get an APEX trigger kit.

The full size M&P is great. The factory trigger is, indeed my one and only complaint about it. It does not have the defined reset like the Shield does.

With that said, the Apex Tactical DCAEK kit runs about $90 and gives the M&P one of the best striker fired trigger on the market.

They also have the Apex Tactical RAM (Reset Assist Mechanism) which provides more of the tactile reset, similar to the Shield. I think that runs abour $30 or so.

I would say to go ahead and get the full size M&P. If you find you aren't happy with the factory trigger, that's a pretty easy thing to fix.

I have both but I would advise you to try it yourself. Actually tried it with 2 2012 FS MP and 2 Shields. If my shield was shipped with the "upgraded" trigger it wasn't much of an improvement over the FS MP. Really doesn't matter that much still rips a ragged hole at 7yds
