Half stock info

I have a half stock 31" x 1" barrel I would guess 40cal. Stamped on the top P. Smith Buffalo N-Y 1856 and underneath the barrel D.C. White also Remington lock is AW Spies & Co. Can anyone interpret these marking for me and give me ball park value. The rifle is in verygood condition with one crack in the stock at the lock and non original ramrod. Thanks Rory
