This has got me Jazzed!

Now I'm very curious! I was intimidated by how bad I'd probably do if I were to try competitive shooting. I appreciate all the encouragement I see through this web board.

I'm curious out of my "small" stable of guns, which would be the one that I should attempt to compete with:

Springfield XD-9mm V10 ported. I love this gun, and at the range I'm most accurate with it.

Taurus PT92 9mm. I enjoy this gun very much, yet I don't shoot that well with it yet.

Walther P99 OD Mil .40. Great gun, just not real comfortable with it yet. The trigger has me off a click. It'll take me a bit to get familiar, yet it's a very perty gun.

I'm in the market for a .45 and got my eyes on a Dan Wesson Pointman PM7s. Any suggestions here?

Any support or ideas, I'm all ears.

Start with your XD. After you've shot a few matches you'll have a better idea of what the top shooters are using and can start looking from there.

Depends on what you want to shoot, IDPA or IPSC. Not real clear on IPSC rules if the XD could shoot production, as it is ported. Ported guns are a no-no in IDPA. Accuracy is not as important as reliability. I guess I would go with the Walther, cause its purty.

Also, it and the Taurus would be legal for production in IPSC and SSP in IDPA.

John's right. I wasn't thinking about the XD being ported, just that you said you were most accurate with that one. The Taurus would be the one I'd start with just because 9mm ammo is cheaper.

XD ported--no go in IDPA: Open class in USPSA (a very tough class).
Pt 92--start DA for IDPA/SSP, USPSA/production or Cocked and Locked for IDPA/ESP , USPSA/LIMITED 10 or LIMITED.
P99 I think is considered single action so IDPA/ESP, USPSA/LIMITED 10 or LIMITED.

P99 is double action. P99QA and P990 qualify for SA.
