Lead and jacketed bullets
can the data for a jacketed bullet be used for a lead bullet? For example can I use a 200gr lead SWC in place of a 200gr jacketed hollow point? I know I've heard never to use lead data for jacketed bullets though.

Yac, yes, you can use jacketed bullet data for lead bullets provided that the pressure is not too great for the lead bullet. Substituting a lead 200 SWC for a 200 grain JHP in a .45 ACP would work fine. The same substitution in a full house .44 mag load would be likely to be wildly inaccurate and to cause major leading.

Leftoverdj: Actually yes its a 45 ACP load I'm wondering about. Specifically it is using 5.2gr of Titegroup and substituting a 200gr lead swc for a 200gr jacketed hollow point. And yes its a published load.

PDshooter those look exactly like the 200gr SWC bullets I use. I loaded those with 5.2gr of Titegroup, OAL was 1.25" which seems to feed the best in my 1911. I cant wait to try them out Does anyone have much experience using Titegroup in the 45 ACP? Does it have less muzzle flash and less report than say Bullseye?

I've found 5.0gr of Titegroup to be plenty under a 200gr cast SWC as well. 5.2 is the maximum published for the JHP. I always recommend starting at least 10% below max (when the powder allows, never with 296) and working up.
I used to load 4.8gr Titegroup with swaged lead SWC and had some fede problems. Don't really know yet if it was the swaged bullet, the load, or the magazines. Changed them all at once. I'm 75% sure it was the magazines though.
