What is a 'Full Sabrina'?

Saw it mentioned on another thread...what is a Full Sabrina, and is it tactically wrong?

Its when someone holds their pistol with the barrel parallel to their chest, with the muzzle pointed straight at their chin.

Think Charlie's Angels. Remember how Sabrina carried her pistol? Muzzle up, in the headshot at all times. A tactical necessity, I'm sure.

You need to mention that it was from Charley's Angels and the position that Sabrina held her gun.

Like that? You always see the flicks where LEOs point up...is this done for dramatic purposes, or do LEOs do it in real life on an entry to keep the muzzles away from each other?

As far as I'm concerned, you always point the muzzle in the safest direction, and that's not necessarily always down.

According to Jeff Cooper's latest commentaries, he prefers the standard rifle ready position, with the butt at the belt and the barrel up at a 45* angle to the "tactical" ready position, that is, the butt in the shoulder and the muzzle down. He says the latter would tire one quicker, which seems to be true.

If you're, for instance, standing on a concrete pad out doors, it's probably safer to point your muzzle up than down. Same thing if you live on the top floor of a building. Point the muzzle in the direction it's least likely to do any damage in should you initiate a negligent discharge.

Heh* I'm in favor of a "Full Tackelberry" myself!

= waist high, muzzle horizontal, full auto with a 30 round clip on an M-16
Tackelberry from the "Police Acadamy" series is my Role-model!

Full Sabrina is used with handguns. The problem is that it generally points the muzzle either directly up your left nostril or an inch from your ear. An AD would REALLY hurt. With a rifle it's not so bad unless you pull an Al Gore or use your shotgun muzzle to push your hat brim up (I've seen it done.) Again, bad idea.

I can think of times when pointing down is unsafe, but generally, when you're in the open on the ground, up is much more dangerous.

I always thought a full Sabrina was when the handgun was held with both hands head-high, barrel pointed up, muzzle ajacent to eyes and / or ears.

A half Sabrina is a full Sabrina with only one hand on the handgun.

Waitone got it right. I'm glad we have no shortage of "firearms" experts here.

Never say no one! Somebody out there probably does it. In fact, if you looked hard enough, you could probably find a police department that teaches it.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I voted for Kodos. What is an Al Gore?

Whew!

Glad it doesn't mean what I thought: getting "The Works" at a brothel. As in, "I just got my yearly bonus check - give me the full sabrina this time."

Pulling an Al Gore=pointing M16 at your own head, I believe - as per picture circulating of this a couple years ago.

Does anyone have the Al Gore picture?

BTW, the SWAT guy with the H&K is holding his gun the same way that the military is taught to hold their M16's. I was reading an Army manual recently that was describing this position.

The term "Full Sabrina" predates the telly by a few hundred years.

Sabrina is the latin spelling of the English Severn. The river Severn is geographically laid out in such a manner that it gets tremendous tidal bores. With moon, sun and tides just right, one can surf the bore UP the river for quite a ways. Needless to say, tis a bit rough on small boats, floathouses etc.

"Full Sabrina" is when the assorted variables come together to make an unusually strong bore......and fill the river with wrong way water.

Quiz at eight.

How did it eke its way into gunspeak? From Charlie's Angels, the series, and the way Sabrina held her gun in the poster.
