Beretta 92X slide not locking open when mag empty?

Hey all,
first post on TFL. I have a new 92X (G) that has been working flawlessly through the first ~400 rds. Worked right last night then today, shooting 6 full mags, it failed to lock open after the last round each time. I have the 3 factory mags, and then another 17 rd Beretta mag that was labeled as a 92/M9 compatible mag. Coincidence? or could that have something to do with it? The follower appeared to be fully raised when I dropped the mag each time.
Ideas?

more info based on other similar posts...
With an empty mag in the well, it stops/locks when pulled back no problem.
I'm 95% sure my fingers aren't interfering with the slide - I use the exact same grip for 100's of round with no problem.
I have a hard time believing that the mag springs are not pushing up forcefully enough, but I'm willing to look into it

Upon further review, my thumb was interfering with the slide, and its working fine with a proper grip.
