Aero Precision Ultralight Scope Mounts?
Looking to reduce some weight on my next AR build and I notice that Aero Precision makes an "Ultralight" line of cantilever scope mounts that weight between one-third and one-half as much as most other brands: Aero Precision = 3-ish ounces, while most others weigh 6 to 9 ounces. That's quite a bit of difference, and I can't find any mounts that weigh in between this big gap. I'd like to save some weight, but, don't want to sacrifice durability, or be restricted to using only ultralight scopes.
So, is the Aero Precision Ultralight scope mount TOO light-weight? Thanx, Dave.

I hope not. I just mounted a Primary Arms scope using one on my AR10 (.308) build. Aero seems to be quality, so I went forit.

By far my favorite line of scope mounts. I have several, some mounted on 308s, a few on some 223s. Never noticed any movement or questioned the strength.

Thanx Gents, for your replies!
It's not that the AP mounts are the lightest. I like other things that are the lightest or fastest, etc. It's just that there aren't any other makes/models that are even close to the same weight. All of these type mounts are made out of the same metals/materials, and yet AP's are less than half the weight. If only one manufacturer made a .223/5.56mm cartridge that had a muzzle velocity of 8000 fps, while everyone else was still below 3600 fps, I'm sure we'd all be wondering about how long those barrels will last? Maybe I'll mount one on a rim-fire AR and then move it up to center-fires later, if it works out ........

I have two, one on a 6.5 Creedmoor and another on a 5.56. Great mounts and, boy, are they light. Really helps weight reduction on big frame ARs.
