Colt .380 mag spring replacement!

Help!!!

I recently purchased some mags for my newly acquired Colt Government .380, but want to switch out the stock springs for some Wolff Extra Power springs.

I'm having difficulty taking the floorplates off the mags. Do the mag floorplates simply slide off the mag bodies? Sort of looks like they might be spot welded.

Please help!!!

You've gotta push the follower down a couple inches (I use a punch for this),stick a small tool into one of the holes in the side of the mag to restrain the spring (I use a punch for this, too),then pull the follower out and remove your spring retaining tool carefully, keeping the top of the mag pointed away from your eyes, and remove the spring upward.Assemble in reverse order.

Further . . .

The mag bases do not come off. Follow JMB's advice. You can also use a toothbrush handle to push the follower down as far as you can, then a bamboo skewer through the holes in the side to keep the spring compressed while the follower remains loose so you can shake it out.

Regards.

Upon closer inspection of the mags, that's what I suspected.

Thanks!!!
