Case ejection patterns

New reloader here.

I have been working on a load for my Ruger SR9. I finally got a load that cycles the slide well, but an odd thing is it seems to toss the brass straight up.
IMR 700x 3.6gn HDY XTP 124 oal 1.08"

The factory ammo tossed it all out to the side. I was standing behind my pick up truck bed in the desert at a BLM range so that the brass would fly into the bed of the truck, and not a single one went in there, (17 rounds).

I don't yet own a crony, so is this a symptom of a over or under charge?
Or maybe a shorter OAL from the factory loads that were 1.125" ?

I've tuned a few 1911s to put the emties where the shooter wants .Some guns , HK P7, puts them about 15' away. One Mauser 96 pistol put them everywhere !!! but was reliable.

BT380, Loads for this were all over the place as far as powder and dimensions were concerned.

Lyman 49th ed used a 125 Sierra fmj for their test and said 3.8 to 4.2 with 1.075 OAL. but this is a different bullet.

Lee 2nd ed does not list the 700x for the 124 XTP, but they give a oal for it as 1.060 as the longest length for the other powders that they do list. On the next page they show for a 125FMJ 3.0 to 3.6 of 700x

The Hornady 9th ed does not list the 700x for that bullet, only the 90gn,

The midway load maps said OAL was 1.136 and use extreme caution above 3.9gn. never exceed 4.1 gn. With that length I was getting stovepipes with 3.8gn.

Other sites like Hodgen said 3.4 max with OAL of 1.069. (125 HDY HAP which is the same bullet but not hollow point)

Since my guns are rated for +p I compromised on the powder and length, but not by much. I just don't know why my cases are flying in a different direction from the factory stuff I had.
