Who uses light (40/45gr) prolectiles?
G'day. I'm looking for some feedback on light projectiles to use in a .222
I'll mostly be using it for rabbit, feral cats and the odd fox.

if your like me u like the explosive effect so i use 40gr horn. v-max in my 223wssm and varmints almost disintagrate. its morbid but cool. i chrono them at 4000fps , which is a light load for my gun and i have 1inch groups at 100yds but am going to a heavier bullet when i run out of the light ones. your 222 will probly have more accuracy than my 223mag and i think u will like these bullets.

I use / tried alot of them in my fast twist 22 Hornet test ( in fact almost all of them )...
my favorites are 36 grain Speer TNT's, 40 grain Hornady V Max, & Barnes 33 grain Varmint Grenades... if you are a hide hunter, & not a "splat master"... the 45 grain Barnes banded solids have been accurate in a wide varity of velocities...

The 40 grain V-Max are the ticket for your usage. I have found them accurate and explosive on cat sized animals. (PD's here)

G'day. Thanks for the feedback. I've been looking at the Sierra "hornet" projectiles. (I have the Sierra Infinity Software package - Lots of information) Just trying to get some ideas before I start to load the cartridge.
