Remington 722 extractor issue.

I have a Remington 722 that has seen many decades of steady use, but the (fixed) extractor has become worn. It drags the case from the chamber just fine, but let's go before the ejector can do it's job, thus leaving the brass in the action, jamming it.

My question is, this being a fixed extractor, machines into the bolt face, how do I did it?

One 'fix' is to have a competent gunsmith install a Sako type extractor.

Tim Malcolm did my old 722, fitting a Sako extractor. It works just fine and his work was excellent & timely.

Several options, all involving a machinist.
* Fit a Sako type extractor.
* Fit a M-16 style extractor
* Have the retaining groove the extractor sits in widened and deepened for a Remington 700 extractor.

Thank you all for the advice. Looks like a SAKO is the preferred method, though an AR type might be more common and serviceable for the forseeable future.
