Partner Competitions

Hello all,
So I thoroughly enjoy pretty much all shooting sports. I was hoping to get into 3-gun this year, but my sources for a couple things just didn't come through and I didn't want to spend a ton of money on anything other than ammo. I'd like to work up to a few other competitions I was told about. Specifically some similar competitions to the Competition Dynamics Sniper Adventure Challenge, but maybe some of the less strenuous ones first.

My problem is, I'm just one person. This works out very well for pistol and 3-gun competitions. However, the other competitions are 2-person teams. I have some friends, even some family, that could definitely be my partner. They are not close, though. So my question to you folks would be: how would one go about finding a second for these kinds of competitions?
